The Rotary Club of Ossett is looking for a young person to benefit from a one week residential leadership course to be held during the summer of 2015. The Rotary Youth Leadership Award course (RYLA) is designed to allow young people to experience at first hand the challenge of leadership. This course is open to young men and women who are over 16 at the start and under 18 on the day the course concludes.
The course contains a mixture of: physical and mental challenges that allow participants to experience Leadership, Team Building, Communication and Problem Solving skills.
These are based on both indoor and outdoor activities such as: – Walking – Problem Solving – Water Activities – Orienteering – Raft building – Presentation
The course is held at Hebden Hey, a Scout hostel situated in the Hardcastle Crags valley above Hebden Bridge. The course dates are either Sunday 26th July 2015 to Friday 31st July 2015 or from Sunday 2nd August 2015 to Friday 7th August 2015; with a total of 64 places, 32 on each course. (Candidates attend one course only) The course staff is made up of a team of professional instructors, who supervise all the activities.
The R.Y.L.A. course is open to young men and women. Awardees must be at least 16 and not have attained 18 years of age at the start and finish of the course.
Nominees may be required to attend a selection interview with members of the Rotary Club of Ossett.
